🎄Day 2: Easy Watercolour Christmas Mug Card | Shaped Christmas Card

Welcome to Day 2 of the 12 Days of Christmas in July 2026 collaboration hosted by Monika (PaperMona), with Katarina joining in the festive fun!

Today's theme is Shaped Card, and since July is also Watercolour Month, I decided to combine both by creating a handmade Christmas mug-shaped card using watercolour techniques.

My inspiration came from a beautiful ceramic mug I bought in Bolesławiec, Poland, a town famous for its traditional hand-decorated pottery. I loved the cozy shape and classic design, so I transformed that inspiration into a festive Christmas card perfect for the holiday season.

Blue and purple whimsical birds

Today, I have a third whimsical painting in my new collection. 

This mixed media painting was a lot of fun to create and I absolutely enjoyed playing with the watercolours. I painted the canvas black and used gold acrylic paint to create the frame, I used watercolour paint for the birds, butterflies and flowers, I fussy cut them and used liquid glue to adhere them on the canvas.

Whimsical purple butterflies

Today I have my second mixed media painting of 2021. 

I used a stencil and texture paste in the corners of the canvass, then painted the background using metallic acrylic paint. All the butterflies and flowers were painted using watercolour paint, fussy cut and adhered on the canvas, I also added some light green thread :)

Urban sketches - Prague

You know how much I love trying new things. This time I used watercolours to paint 3 buildings that I saw in Prague. Prague is one of my favourite cities and it always stays in my heart, as we can't travel at the moment I wanted to spend some time in Prague and decided to do urban sketches.

Watercolour mosaic - Starry Night

Let's try something new! I challenged myself to create a watercolour mosaic on an A3 paper, it took me seven days to complete this painting challenge, I was inspired by a Skill Share class. I learned a lot using this technique, I'm definitely better at thinner and longer strokes :)

Taking up this challenge, I wanted to create a mosaic version of my favourite painting 'Starry Night' by Vincent van Gogh.

Watercolour Sunflowers for a Nameday

This has been a wonderful week so far :) I hope you are well :)

A few weeks ago when I was on holiday, my aunt had her Nameday and the only thing I had was a set of 8 watercolour pens. So I decided to make a proper use of them and created these Sunflowers and the background panel. When I was working on this card, the weather was sunny and beautiful so I could paint in the garden.

Retirement card

Here is a retirement card for my mum's colleague who loves mountains. I painted one of the most famous places in Poland called 'Morskie Oko' which is the largest and fourth deepest lake in the Tatra Mountains, it is located deep within the Tatra National Park. I tried to make this retirement card very unique just for him as retirement is just thee beginning and full of new opportunities.

Today, I have a special painting I made for my Mum. Once, she has told me that my Dad used to draw parrots wherever they went to the zoo and she does not have any of his drawings. So guess what! I decided to paint a parrot for my Mum. She absolutely loves it and now she is looking for a frame for the painting :)
