The Lion King

A few weeks ago I watched the new version of the Lion King and my mind was blown away. Wow! The film from 2019 is so outstanding that I can not even believe how they made it. The attention to detail is out of this world! If you haven't seen it yet I really recommend you do it asap. If you have seen it, let me know who is your favourite character.

I loved the film so much that I decided to try using Polychromos on a black paper and how would that look like, I could not resist and had to draw young Simba :)

Disc World and a dragon

Recently, I've been thinking about the books that I really liked when I was in a secondary school and I read and still read Disc World series by Terry Pratchett. I'm not sure about you, but I always appreciate artwork that is included in novels and I have to say that Paul Kidby's illustrations are my favourite.

I decided to have a go at my totally favourite dragon by Paul Kidby and you can see the result below.

Spring painting in gouache

A got a really nice set of gouache paints from my husband(few months ago ...). The paint was waiting and waiting for me to create something. I've never used gouache before so I challenged myself and I used a colour pallet that I wouldn't use for wildlife. One of the classes on Skill Share inspired me to come out of my comfort zone and try this technique, I was reluctant at the beginning (I have to admit) but then I actually like the result. It is good to try something new as it stretches your supplies and skills. 

I hope you will try something new, a painting, drawing or mixed media.

Spring butterfly in soft pastel

The weather is so beautiful at the moment and staying at home makes me try new techniques. I used soft pastels to create this drawing and I love this technique. Using Rembrandt pastels made it easy to blend the colours together and actually it was much quicker than expected.

I really recommend trying something new.

Mountain landscape - marker drawing

Here is a marker drawing using Spectrum Noir pens, I tried to use 4 main sets of markers to create this landscape. I absolutely love sunsets and the colours they bring.

Here is my second Shanklin (Isle of Wight) marker drawing using Spectum Noir alcohol markers. My favourite part is the wall on the yellow building and the stones in different shades of yellow.

Disney style drawing

As you know this year I decided to draw and paint more often. I'm a huge fan of Disney style drawing and I tried it here using Spectrum Noir markers on a Premium Marker Pad, the paper is super smooth and perfect for markers.

If you have any alcohol markers try to create a bigger piece, you can stamp some images to create a scene and use blending to achieve amazing effects :)

Hello everyone! I hope you had amazing time over Christmas and you are ready for this new year :) 

Every year I choose a skill and I try to learn as much as possible throughout the 12 months. 

What's your New Year resolution?

This year, I decided to focus more on drawing and painting. I challenged myself and I started using markers from Spectrum Noir on a Premium Marker Pad 9'' x 12''. I absolutely love how smooth the paper is and the blending is really nice.

Here is Anna from Frozen from the scene in an ice castle, it is my favourite location because of the sky. I hope you like it :)

Under the sea

Have you ever thought of going on an adventure on Nautilus (Captain Nemo's submarine)? When I was reading '20 000 Leagues Under the Sea' I wanted to see all amazing sea creatures and explore the seas and oceans. 

I drew this picture using silky crayons, they blend really nicely and you can mix the colours easily.

I love books and Captain Nemo was my favourite book character when I was a kid. I loved all his adventures and one of the best ones was meeting giant sea creatures, so I used silky crayons and drew this giant octopus.

Today, I woke up and thought about one of my favourite books from childhood '20 000 Leagues Under the Sea' by Jules Verne. I'm going to read it again (to be honest I've already read it a couple of times) and explore seas with Captain Nemo. 

I took up a challenge and used silky crayons (for the first time) to create these drawings. The second drawing is the first exploration of the bottom of the sea :)
