Blue and purple whimsical birds

Today, I have a third whimsical painting in my new collection. 

This mixed media painting was a lot of fun to create and I absolutely enjoyed playing with the watercolours. I painted the canvas black and used gold acrylic paint to create the frame, I used watercolour paint for the birds, butterflies and flowers, I fussy cut them and used liquid glue to adhere them on the canvas.

Whimsical purple butterflies

Today I have my second mixed media painting of 2021. 

I used a stencil and texture paste in the corners of the canvass, then painted the background using metallic acrylic paint. All the butterflies and flowers were painted using watercolour paint, fussy cut and adhered on the canvas, I also added some light green thread :)

Urban sketches - Prague

You know how much I love trying new things. This time I used watercolours to paint 3 buildings that I saw in Prague. Prague is one of my favourite cities and it always stays in my heart, as we can't travel at the moment I wanted to spend some time in Prague and decided to do urban sketches.

Spring painting in gouache

A got a really nice set of gouache paints from my husband(few months ago ...). The paint was waiting and waiting for me to create something. I've never used gouache before so I challenged myself and I used a colour pallet that I wouldn't use for wildlife. One of the classes on Skill Share inspired me to come out of my comfort zone and try this technique, I was reluctant at the beginning (I have to admit) but then I actually like the result. It is good to try something new as it stretches your supplies and skills.

Watercolour mosaic - Starry Night

Let's try something new! I challenged myself to create a watercolour mosaic on an A3 paper, it took me seven days to complete this painting challenge, I was inspired by a Skill Share class. I learned a lot using this technique, I'm definitely better at thinner and longer strokes :)

Taking up this challenge, I wanted to create a mosaic version of my favourite painting 'Starry Night' by Vincent van Gogh.

Under the sea

Have you ever thought of going on an adventure on Nautilus (Captain Nemo's submarine)? When I was reading '20 000 Leagues Under the Sea' I wanted to see all amazing sea creatures and explore the seas and oceans. 

I drew this picture using silky crayons, they blend really nicely and you can mix the colours easily.

I love books and Captain Nemo was my favourite book character when I was a kid. I loved all his adventures and one of the best ones was meeting giant sea creatures, so I used silky crayons and drew this giant octopus.

Today, I woke up and thought about one of my favourite books from childhood '20 000 Leagues Under the Sea' by Jules Verne. I'm going to read it again (to be honest I've already read it a couple of times) and explore seas with Captain Nemo. 

I took up a challenge and used silky crayons (for the first time) to create these drawings. The second drawing is the first exploration of the bottom of the sea :)

Tower Bridge at Sunrise

Here is my third dotted painting in the series 'Tower Bridge at Sunrise'. This landmark in London has a special place in my heart for a few reasons. One of them, there is very nice view from the bridge and you can capture beautiful sunsets. The most important one, it is the place where I got a beautiful flower from my husband when we went there together for the first time :)

Dotted Chameleon

Here is 'The Chameleon', I really like how it turned out with all the colours of the rainbow. This painting took me 20 hours and it is A4 size, but it was worth spending that time making dots.

White butterfly - pointillism

I have been working on pointillism recently and I have to admit that I really like this technique.

Here is 'White Butterfly' painting which is A4 size, it took me over 15 hours but I'm really pleased with the result. As you know I absolutely love butterflies so it had to be a butterfly :)

Here is my Monarch Butterfly painting using Brusho crystals on A4 card. I love how the colours dance together to create the background. Brusho crystals are perfect for interesting techniques and I really hope you will try them :)

I absolutely love the effects you can get with these crystals and it is a lot of fun creating an image. I painted the fox on A4 white card.

I love to experiment with different techniques and I decided to paint with Brusho crystals. If you haven't tried them yet, I strongly recommend getting them. There is so much you can do with them.As you can see, the first painting had to be with my favourite butterfly :)
